Eat the right foods! Try to limit your intake of high fat, high cholesterol "junk foods" or caffeinated drinks. They may seem to give you "energy" temporarily, but in the long run, they will do you more harm than good. Eating several small meals per day, rather than one or two large ones is best, because if your body goes for too long without food - the body's fuel - your sugar levels drop can cause fatigue. Try healthy snacks like fruit, vegetables, nuts, or raisins.
Nutritional Supplements Make sure that you are taking a quality vitamin (like Men's Daily Essentials or Women's Daily Essentials) and Omega 3 Fatty Acids (EPA/DHA Double Strength) each day. These supplements will supply your body with the basic nutrients necessary to function properly and without fatigue.
Drink plenty of water! 8 to 10 glasses of water per day is best. Water carries nutrients throughout your body and also flushes toxins from the body. If you don't drink enough water, these toxins build up instead of being flushed out, causing fatigue, headaches, and more. Even if you don't "feel" thirsty, make sure you are drinking 8 to 10 glasses per day. Bottled water is better than tap water.
Get plenty of sleep Sleeping for 7 to 8 hours per night is best for most people. When you are rested, you have much more energy. If you have trouble getting to sleep and/or staying asleep, Melatonin and/or Magnesium are great supplements to help initiate and maintain sleep cycles. Try our Sound Sleep formula that contains both Melatonin and Magnesium.
Exercise! You may say that sounds like a contradiction - that exercise uses energy, not increases it. But exercise does increase your energy level. It raises the level of your endorphins, which elevates your mood. Exercise on a consistent basis helps your body to feel more alert, more energetic, and can also help you sleep.
Have fun!! Allow yourself to do something you enjoy every day - read a book, ride your bike, play cards, whatever. Just something that you enjoy doing. It sounds simple, but when you're happy, you have more energy!
