Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration occurs when the macula in the retina of the eye deteriorates causing a gradual or sudden loss of central vision. Early signs include fuzziness or shadows in your central vision or straight lines appearing wavy. Macular degeneration is a growing problem, since the risk increases with age, with over 11 million people currently affected in the US.

Some demonstrated associations with the onset and progression of the disease are smoking, poor diet, environmental pollutants, obesity, elevated blood pressure and cholesterol, or excessive exposure to UV rays. Nutrients that have shown promising results in reducing the risk and progression of macular degeneration include Beta Carotene, Vitamins C and E, Lutein, Lycopene, Bilberry, Copper, and Zinc, all of which are included in our Eye-ProTM Antioxidant.
